History

For more than 75 years, Spudnuts has been more than just a morning treat—it’s been a tradition, a gathering place, and a downright obsession for those who know a good thing when they taste it.

A Legacy of Spuds & Sweetness

It all started in 1948, when brothers Al and Bob Pelton had a wild idea: why settle for ordinary doughnuts when you could make something better? They swapped out the usual flour for potato flour, and just like that, a legend was born. Fluffier, tastier, and downright irresistible, the Spudnut quickly became a local staple—and we’ve been running on potato power ever since.

New Owners, Same Traditions

Fast forward to today, and while ownership has changed hands, one thing hasn’t: our commitment to making Spudnuts the same way they’ve always been made. No shortcuts. No messing with the recipe. Just the same fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth goodness that’s kept people coming back for generations.

When we took over Spudnut Shop, we knew we were taking on a huge responsibility—to keep traditions alive, to honor the original process, and to make sure every bite tastes authentic. That’s why we’ve kept the same techniques, the same trusted team, and the same secret recipe that’s been winning hearts (and stomachs) for decades.
